Invitation - Vernissage of Awakening
By: ArtBank / 26 February 2020The Canada Council for the Arts invites you to the vernissage of its new exhibition, Awakening. Following a successful international tour, with presentations at Queen’s Park, Toronto, and UN Headquarters in New York City as well as Geneva, Switzerland, and Bonn, Germany, we are pleased to bring Awakening to the Âjagemô Exhibition Space.
Discover the works of Canadian and Indigenous visual artists from the Canada Council Art Bank that shine a spotlight on our relationship with the environment. Awakening presents 21 works meant to provoke thought and discussion about how we relate to the environment and the need for a more sustainable approach.
Individually, these works depict collisions between city and ecology, nature and nurture, consumption and conservation, ideals and actions. Together, they evoke a mixture of hope, despair and soul-searching, and encourage viewers to consider the urgency of sustaining life on Earth for future generations.
Curated by world-renowned designer and thought-leader Bruce Mau, Awakening will be on display until May 18, 2020, in the Canada Council for the Arts’ Âjagemô Exhibition Space.
