Madweyàshkà | Like A Wave
This exciting new exhibition that brings together works of art by contemporary First Nations and Métis artists from the past four decades will open in the Canada Council’s Âjagemô Exhibition Space on June 18.
The exhibition includes a selection of works from the Art Bank, which has proudly featured Indigenous voices, artists and practices since the 1970s.
Curated by Olivia Kristoff, an emerging curator and writer from the Cowessess First Nation based in Saskatoon, (Treaty 6 Territory), Saskatchewan, the exhibition uses the power of art to enable visitors to reflect on the experiences of Indigenous peoples in Canada and appreciate how artists use art to heal, while also communicating complex, multi-layered narratives.
